Varsity team member class of 1982 said:   August 3, 2009 10:54 pm PST
Just found this website for Bennington! I am so happy to see that girls sports have progressed so much at BHS. Looking at the training schedule and the level of coaching, I am so happy for the kids. Bennington has always had a strong tradition of winning athletes. A little BHS trivia, the Varsity Volleyball team for the class of 1982 was the first team ever to qualify for STATE!! Kip Hepfinger was the head coach, and Nancy Backhuus was the assistant. Great memories!!!

It's Friday night (late) and we are still reeling with excitement. What an amazing game tonight. Ladies, you were ON. The focus, energy and competitive spirit of true WINNERS was on display and incredibly fun to watch. Kudos to an amazing crowd. The students, families and community support was overwhelming. Join us at STATE for more! Thanks to Mr. Hartung and the band. You set the tone from the beginning. Girls, enjoy every moment but you are not done yet. Making it is sweet - playing in the championship game is priceless, just ask our softball and boys basketball teams! GO FOR IT - WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!

Who are the Badgers? The Badgers are fierce animals that protect themselves and their team mates at all costs. They have strong legs and long claws for ripping apart their prey. They stalk their prey on hardwood courts usually 30 by 60 feet. They are in Clans of 6 to 12 members. The clan feeds off the strengths of each member and punish those who invade their territory. Watch out for the Badgers! Go fight Win.

Fantastic job last night girls. Now it is time to take what is yours. You were here knocking on the door last year now is the time to knock the door down and take the next step to a State Championship. Be proud of what this season has been , but prepare to finish what is left undone. As a great athlete said "You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them" Michael Jordan. Now is the time to expect great things from each and every one of you. Remember to leave it on the court and when it is over you can look at each other, and you can honestly say I gave it all I had and walk off the court with you heads held high win or lose.
